Type 2 Diabetes Group Exercise
At Nomadic EP, we understand the importance of staying active in managing and preventing the complications of Type 2 Diabetes. Our Type 2 Diabetes Group Exercise program is designed to help individuals with diabetes improve their health, control blood sugar levels, and enhance their overall quality of life. This program is encompassed within our Healthy Aging Group Exercise, where each participant follows an individualized exercise plan tailored to their specific needs, ensuring personalized care and support in a gym environment.
Our Approach
Our Type 2 Diabetes Group Exercise program, integrated with the Healthy Aging Group, focuses on exercises specifically suited to help manage diabetes and improve overall health:
-
Strength Training: Regular strength training helps increase insulin sensitivity and improve glucose control. Our program incorporates gym-based resistance equipment, including free weights and machines, to safely build muscle and improve metabolic health.
-
Cardiovascular Fitness: Cardiovascular exercise plays a crucial role in managing blood sugar and supporting heart health. Participants use low-impact gym equipment like stationary bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines to enhance endurance and help control glucose levels.
-
Balance & Mobility: Maintaining balance and mobility is essential for people with diabetes to prevent falls and maintain independence. Our sessions include exercises to improve flexibility and functional movement, keeping you mobile and active.
-
Reaction Time & Coordination: By using BlazePods reaction time testing, we help participants sharpen their coordination and agility, important for improving overall physical function and preventing injuries.
Who Is It For?
Our Type 2 Diabetes Group Exercise program is designed for individuals diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes who want to improve their physical health, manage blood sugar levels, and reduce the risk of complications. Integrated into our Healthy Aging Group, the program offers personalized care in a structured gym setting. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or managing diabetes long-term, our team will create a plan to suit your individual needs.
Before You Start
Before participating in the group sessions, every individual undergoes a comprehensive initial assessment. This one-on-one session includes evaluations of strength, balance, mobility, and cardiovascular health. From this assessment, we create a fully individualized exercise program that addresses your unique needs and goals, ensuring safe and effective management of your Type 2 Diabetes through exercise.

We highly encourage participants to seek a Medicare referral from their GP. With a referral under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you may be eligible for rebates on exercise physiology services, making it easier to access and benefit from our program.
